Why do we need new types of wind energy generators?
Current machines are great for use in open areas where wind predominantly travels from a single direction, or its direction will not frequently and rapidly change. This is not the case in the built environment area such as in the city or suburbs. It is also not the case in uneven terrain areas. These turbines need to be pointing into the wind to produce power. The "IMPLUX" turbine has none of these limitations. Is "IMPLUX" suitable for wind farms? Yes, it is capable of being used in wind farms. However, its great advantages come to the fore in areas where the standard horizontal wind turbine's overall efficiency cannot be achieved. Will "IMPLUX" be suitable for application in a home? Yes. Nevertheless, the present model of "IMPLUX" is too large for single residences and is more suited to large multiple residency buildings and industrial, institutional and large commercial facilities. What happens when there is no wind? "IMPLUX" is no different to standard wind machines: no wind = no power. However, "IMPLUX" is capable of extracting higher levels of power at lower wind speeds and hence can produce power for longer time periods. Further, if the wind direction changes rapidly and repeatedly, standard machines cannot deliver any power. "IMPLUX" can continuously deliver power in such an environment. Other 'vertical' wind generators have not succeeded to date. What is special about "IMPLUX"? Although "IMPLUX" is a 'vertical ' type generator it utilizes the extremely well developed ‘horizontal’ type aerofoil propeller wind rotor which has been proven to deliver higher efficiencies. It has features and characteristics which are totally different to any other ‘vertical’ type units. When will we be able to buy an "IMPLUX" Wind Power Turbine? The first production models are expected in mid 2012. If you are interested in considering a special build in your building project please contact us. Where can I get more information about wind technology? There are several excellent sites, a few of which are listed below:
